Hair Mask or Conditioner? Understanding the Difference
· lucyshairaffair
Conditioners and hair masks can both play useful roles in a hair-care routine, but they are not necessarily interchangeable.
What does conditioner do?
Conditioner is typically used after shampooing to improve softness, detangling and manageability. It is often designed for regular use.
What is a hair mask?
A hair mask is generally a more intensive treatment that stays on the hair longer. Depending on the formulation, it may be used periodically rather than after every wash.
Which should you choose?
Your hair texture, condition, styling routine and the specific product formulation all matter. Hair that feels dry or stressed may benefit from an occasional deeper treatment, while conditioner remains the everyday foundation for many routines.
Avoid overdoing it
More product is not automatically better. Follow the directions for the specific formula and adjust based on how your hair responds.
